95 850 T5-R Issues, would love some insight

MessageAuthor

Ok, I just bought a 1995 850 T5-R a few days ago, and I have been trying to figure out some issues with it. 1.) The turn/hazard signals are not functioning. Headlights work both High and Low beams. 2.) When I turn my car on at night, my instrument panel will light up as well as my shifting column. But after about 1-3 seconds, they will kick off and everything in the car will be dark. 3.) Does anyone have a recommendation of a good interior repair person in Southern Cal (I just moved out here), I would like to get the roof interior replaced, and the drivers seat has separated in the middle of where the bum goes 4.) Does the 95 T5-R use a regular OBD-II computer or does it need a special volvo OBD-II? Thanks for for your time -Schwing

Have you checked the ignition switch?, these can go faulty and give all sorts of wierd faults. Try turning back the key slightly after starting. The dash lights going off could be to do with the dimmer switch which is located above one of the fog light switches. Check the connection, it may also be a defective dimmer.

Well so far I have found that when I turn my headlamps on and switch to the high beam and then use the rocker switch for the hazards, it will allow for my turn signals to start working again.

Steady!!! you could be using 'parrallel paths' which could damage the system. I would change the ignition switch as soon as possible.

Agreed, have you experimented with the switch yet?. Once the car is started just turn the key back a little bit and see if everything starts working again, if it does then it's definately the switch.
