wiper washer problem

MessageAuthor

My 850 has just recently developed a problem with the screen washers, if I squirt the screen and release the column stalk it just keeps on squirting (4 miles worth!). removing the fuse is a temporary cure but clearly not practical. Last time it stuck on I took the fuse out and then disconnected the column stalk, put the fuse back in it still kept squirting. I assume this is a relay problem, any idea where the relay is and a part number to change it? Many Thanks

might be possible prob on stalk it self not closing/opening the conection proply, so as you pull it is not releasing the conection, never had a look at the stalk so not sure if you can spray any contact cleaner into them

Hi, Are the wipers also going as well as the washer? If so (and possibly if not) and you have the headlamp wash/wipe fitted then the problem could well be your headlamp wiper motor. Try unplugging the motor nearest to the washer fluid bottle and check the system again. It may also be the other motor, but most likely that one near the bottle... There is a detailed How To to fix the motor if this is the case... Des. . . ;)

there is a diode in the headlight wiper motor you could replace that for 12p from Maplin (IN4001 ) or a heavy duty IN5400 17p

My washer on front window would not stop, and pump would not stop. Unplugging the head light wiper motor did the trick. Thanks for good advise!!
