Hi folks, I picked up a tip from a neighbour today - he's got the nicest 240 saloon I've ever seen, it's a 1991 240GL Auto saloon. I'm afraid the photos don't do it justice. Anyway, I asked him where he got the chrome for round the windows (it looks like the older 244s) and he explained that he had a go (very carefully) with paint stripper and took off the black coating. Underneath was this beautiful chrome. It looks the bee's knees, I can tell you! Now, I haven't tried it myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on the 700 series, though it's probably best to have a bash on a scrapper first! I'll certainly have a go at my 740 in the near future. Be careful with that paint stripper! Take care, John.
I suppose if it works on a 740 then it'll probably work on a 940. You could try it on that bit of trim that folds over the top of the guttering, where it is hidden by the front doors. Take care, John.
Well, I had a quick go on a hidden bit yesterday, and it hasn't had any effect. I didn't really have a proper go though, so I'll try that and report back.
I had a go on my 740, properly this time, and it worked a treat. One word of warning, though - it works fine on all the trim except the window sills, for some reason. Luckily, they are the easiest bit to get from a scrapper, as they just lift off. I'm going to get some for myself and when I've fitted them I'll take some photos. Take care, John.

Hi John Superb looking door trims! Just two questions to ask you: 1. can we do the same to the rear quarter glass frame? 2. i took notice of your front and rear bumpers, did Volvo came out with chrome bumper trims for the 240? dindo
