hesitation/mis-fire at low speed

MessageAuthor

oh!! getting worse now!! and seems to be missing at cruising speed too and started stalling, especially on pulling away at lights etc. Not too clever especially as it's automatic!! it's annoying me more than the drivers behind me!! Not really driveable now dont think this can be HT leads and definately worse when hot and no engine management light on Fuel pump relay? Coil? Help!!

Theres a vacuum hose with a rubber elbow which lies just beneath the inlet manifold, so its very easy to miss. Check all the rubber elbows on the other vacuum pipes too as these tend to become brittle over time.

The MIL lamp may not be on but this does not mean there are no codes stored, have you looked? Does sound like an HT problem to me, have you checked the dist cap and rotor arm?

The 'DIY codes reader' will work with your car, it would be worth making one. Have you looked inside the distributor cap?

Top suspects have to be rotor, dissy cap and leads. You say you changed rotor and dissy cap 3 years ago. How many miles since then? When you think about it, the engine is 100% totally dependent upon then rotor and dissy cap. At the very least take them off and give them a clean. Check cap for tracking. 3 years is a long time in the life of a car! Cheers Jack
